Mandala: The Best Paris Restaurant for Your Visit

You’re here because you are full of osé and you like going off the beaten path when exploring a new city. Do you have a trip to Paris in your future? Or maybe you’re living here and are looking for a new food spot? Either way, we have the perfect stop for your next amazing meal in Paris, Mandala. A delicious Tibetan restaurant tucked away off Rue Lafayette near Gare du Nord, Mandala is a must try when indulging in the delights the culinary epicenter of Paris has to offer. In our humble opinion it is one of the best Paris restaurants plus it has an amazing sustainable ethos.

What makes Mandala a sustainable restaurant?

Delicious handmade vegan dumpling from Mandala, a sustainable restaurant in Paris, served on a decorative black and white plate, topped with a flavorful red chili sauce. A must-try for plant-based food lovers seeking the best sustainable dining experiences in Paris.

When you walk into Mandala you can see that the owners take incredible care when sourcing and making their products. On the wall behind the cash register there is a sign explaining exactly where their meat is sourced. Spoiler alert: it’s all sourced in France to reduce their environmental impact. They also offer delicious vegan options for those who are fully committed to or just trying out a vegan lifestyle.

The food is made fresh daily from their dumpling dough to the various desserts they offer. The owner and her husband are the only two you will find working in the restaurant, which first opened its doors in 2022. She makes a point to mention that their dumpling dough is made fresh daily because oftentimes in other restaurants dumplings are also handmade but their dough is mass produced.

Taking a moment to chat with her, Mandala makes that much more sense. Their ethos: inviting you into her kitchen, for high quality, well-made favorites and some homemade fusion experiments, all of which are delicious, and making sure that those who have visited her “kitchen” are well taken care of and enjoying the food she so carefully prepares. Having learned that she originally came to Paris for fashion made it clear why the brightly colored bowls delight the eyes and make the perfect canvas to reflect the high quality local ingredients they transform into these delicious dishes.

What are our favorite things to eat at Mandala?

Really any dish you choose is a winner for us but the dish that "I fell in love with at first visit with" was, the Szechuan chicken with a fried rice base and all the fixin’s. Upon indulging further some other favorites include the caramelized chicken, the vegan dumplings with the matcha cheesecake for dessert!

It’s important to know that because they order small quantities in order to avoid unnecessary food waste, most of the dishes sell out fast so we highly recommend arriving earlier in the afternoon to have the opportunity to try a bit of everything.

Why is it one of the best affordable restaurants in Paris?

In Paris you can revel in almost any type of culinary delight you wish. Traditional and gastronomic French cuisine, of course and everything from Nepalese, Indian, Ethiopian, American BBQ and beyond. It’s part of the beauty of being in such a melting pot of people.

Walking into Mandala your nose is delighted with spices and layers of flavors that make your mouth water and stomach growl almost instantly. You are greeted by the lovely owners and several casseroles that look like they’re from your mother’s kitchen, overflowing with delightful dishes. The menu rotates with mouth-watering plates like Szechuan, caramelized and orange chicken, tofu cabbage and carrot dumplings, fresh and pickled veggies and a spicy sauce option to turn up the heat, all for 12 euros. Is your stomach growling yet? Because mine is!

There are so many restaurants in Paris that it’s hard to stand out in the crowd and it’s even harder to understand the values behind the food you’re feasting on. Mandala makes the choice a no brainer. It’s delicious and flavorful food that dances on your tastebuds, made thoughtful, and sustainably sourced with local ingredients and has great vegan options! So next time you are looking for the best place to eat in Paris head over to 50 Rue de Chabrol 75010 Paris and Mandala will do the rest. You won’t be disappointed.
