Editor’s Note #3 : Consciousness

As we enter our third season of Osé (tomorrow), we’re moving into our own consciousness. We opened with a rebirth in spring and set our intentions in the light of summer. Now, as we tend the seeds we’ve planted, we’re weeding out what’s unnecessary, bringing in the nutrients vital for growth, and getting clear on what we want to nourish this community with.

Osé isn’t your typical digital magazine. It isn’t listicles (okay, we have a few) of the greatest brands. It isn’t news stories you’ve heard a thousand times. It isn’t overtly political, although, as with almost everything in life, it is. And it isn’t about selling you more shit you don’t need. It’s about meeting amazing people and giving them a platform to share their stories so we can all learn from each other.

In that spirit, we’re launching our newest section, Commune: the place where you, the reader, can submit anything you want. Add artwork to our community time capsule. Pitch a person or place you admire as a story. Ask Rita, our in-house broad, for help with a problem you’re facing. Tell us about the chef or restaurant we need to know. This is where our ethos of community co-creation comes to life.

Most excitingly, our digital art exhibition is back, and it’s now a permanent fixture on our site. Each new season brings a new editorial theme and, with it, a new exhibition. This season is Consciousness. For us, it’s about awakening to your purpose and being more in tune with what’s meant for you. For our incredibly talented artists, it means everything from confronting your true self to getting lost in thought. Their work brought me to tears. From their raw talent to the way they speak about their process, they’re the real deal, and I can’t wait for you to meet them on the site and on our socials, where each will take over Osé for a day. Autumn also gets a little cozier and inherently more witchy, so we’re introducing the newest addition to the Osé team: Aunt Kiki. She’s a full-time, no-nonsense tarot reader who’ll give us a look at each month’s themes, what to watch for, and how to make the most of it. You’ll meet her on October 1st, and she’s a hoot. Along with Kiki and Rita, we’re inviting new voices to join our writers, because that’s what Osé was built for: many voices from different backgrounds, sharing stories, adventures, and tips, and building together along the way.

This season is about putting into practice the changes we made with intention over the summer, and you’ll see it in our articles and, later in the season, in our long- and short-form video. So here’s to shorter days, longer nights, cooler weather, coziness, and embracing the hell out of your inner witch!
