Dear Audacious Reader,
Welcome to Osé! You are officially a part of our world!
My name is Kate and I am the founder and creative director here at Osé. I have spent most of my professional life on the other side of the magazine pages, hoping to be put in them, but now I am so excited to begin this journey with you all. Osé is here! Born from wanting to create a space for interesting, bold and inspiring people, places and stories that don’t often get told. The ones who aren’t afraid, the ones who are authentic to themselves, the ones who make you all the better for having known them. That is Osé.
My professional life started off going from never wanting to be a designer, to feeling like I had no choice if I wanted to make a difference, Atelier Kate took me on an incredible adventure in a time when it wasn’t cool to care. Well I care and I care very much, I always have and I always will, it’s how I am wired.
Atelier Kate is rooted in transparency, ethics and thoughtful design. Those values and that ethos is something I intend to bring with me into this adventure that is Osé.
My work (and brands) have been featured in publications like British Vogue, Strive for Perfection: Celebrating 20 Years of Goodwood Rolls-Royce, and Kingston House Magazine, and walked the runways of New York Fashion week many times. So in effect, if we are speaking metrics, or outside perspectives, I was accomplished and successful but I felt burnout as f**k and tired. I feel grateful for what I accomplished but it didn’t feel like the right fit. I wanted to create a space that feels real, that not only matters to people but makes people feel like they matter. One that invites you to slow down, ask better questions, and begs the question, if you could craft your perfect life, what does that look, feel, sound, smell, taste like and who do you want to do it with. I wanted to champion the people I interact with daily like my artisans, the musicians, restauranteurs, communities, locations and people in general that I have met along this journey who don’t get the recognition they deserve despite oftentimes having more talent than those who do. Following their passions, creating their communities and leaving their mark on the world in a big or small way.
Thus, in a way, Osé is my own personal rebirth and what a rebirth it’s been! From being burnt out in 2022 to being fully energized by this idea and the places it has gone and will go, thanks in no small part to Farah. I can honestly say that without her by my side, Osé probably would’ve fallen into the bucket of good ideas I’ll never touch. I thank God everyday I had the guts (osé) to ask her to do this with me!
So buckle up, join in because Osé is not a blog, it is not just another digital magazine that will harass you with product placements or fill your inbox with newsletters. We are here to build and celebrate each other, we are here to co-create a life well lived and stories well told together. We are inviting you both, figuratively and literally (soon), into our world, our homes and our lives to meet, dance, drink, discuss and commune together.
In an increasingly chaotic and stressful world, Osé is an exhale. I’m glad you’re here.
